UNIMARC: Universal Machine-Readable Cataloging

Universal Machine-Readable Cataloging (UNIMARC) is the most comprehensive version of the MARC format for cataloguing bibliographic items first published in 1977 and is currently developed under the sponsorship of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Universal Bibliographic Control (UBC) and International MARC Core Activity (UBCIM) program to facilitate the international exchange of bibliographic records between national bibliographic agencies.
