Ulrich
Neveling: Gemot
Wersig & Ulrich Neveling in "The phenomena of interest to
information science, a search for identify" (1974) identified the
structural approach (matter-oriented), the knowledge approach and the message
approach to information. The matter-oriented approach, usually leading to
something that may be called Structure-definition, states that the structures
of the world which may be perceived or not are 'information'. The
Knowledge approach states that the knowledge built up on the basis of
perception of the structure of the world is 'information'. The message
approach states that 'information' is often equated with 'message' (as the
information content is measured by the message). 2013-D-P-II-Q-9, 2014-J-P-II-Q-4
